Sediment deposition in urban estuaries is controlled by the interaction of human modifications and natural factors that include tides, fresh water inputs, bed morphology, sediment supply, and hydrodynamics. A key element of managing these estuaries is detailed understanding of sediment deposition and its driving processes. Using a combination of geophysical and geochemical analysis …

Spatial Variation in Armouring in a Channel with High Sediment Supply ABSTRACT Recent advances in our understanding of the origin and function of armouring in gravel-bed rivers have not addressed the role of non-uniformity and unsteadiness of …

knowledge on the temporal and spatial variation of grain size. More information about grain size is also a key to a better understanding and insight in to transport and sedimentation processes. During a flood, the erosion activity of rivers reacti-vates sediment pollutants and transports it …
the porosity variation produced by variations in sorting has a minimal (Reuss average) effect on the velocities. The implication is that the poorer sorting results in small grains lying passively in the pores between larger grains. Most small grains reduce the porosity but do not add signifi-cantly to the stiffness of the sediment, and so the
Feb 02, 2019 Analyzing the spatial and temporal organization of sediment storage along 3.0 km of channel mainstem reveals a characteristic storage wavelength similar to the annual bedload particle travel distance. Over time, two scales of variation in storage are observed: small‐scale fluctuation of 3–10 years corresponding to local erosional and
Aug 26, 2009 Temporal and spatial variations in the water flow and sediment loads of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi Rivers in the Himalayan region in India have been considered and reported in the present study. The flux of water from the Alaknanda River and Bhagirathei River to the Ganga River at Devprayag are estimated to be ~17.4 and ~4.9 km 3 yr ?1
Aiming to reveal the spatial variations of prokaryotic microbes and find potentially unique groups in the hadal sediments, we investigated five sediment cores from the trench-axis of the Challenger Deep and nine slope sediment cores ranging in depth from 5,480–7,850 m during three cruises in 2016–2017.

Downloadable! In September 2009, a series of sediment cores were collected across the Alaskan Beaufort Sea shelf-slope. Sediment and porewater organic carbon (OC) concentrations and stable carbon isotope ratios (δ 13 C) were measured to investigate spatial variations in sediment organic matter (OM) sources and distribution of these materials across the shelf.
From the figure 8, it can be observed that the Fe concentrations show spatial and seasonal variation in the three basins, this variation is observed much more in the Choapa basin, site E2. Figure 8 illustrates graphically the variation of Fe concentration (μgg ?1 ), the labile fraction along the rivers and between seasons in the three basins.

Jan 26, 2012 Results demonstrate that there are significant seasonal and spatial variations in particle size spectra and mean grain size. These variations are mainly due to flocculation, influenced by the spatial distribution of salinity and suspended sediment concentration in June by the distribution of salinity in December.
